American Cancer Society (ACS)

This comprehensive site includes a broad range of general cancer information, news stories, lists of community resources by state, and information about the ACS-sponsored Cancer Survivors Network (CSN), a telephone and Web-based support service. There is also a section reviewing ACS research on alternative and complementary therapies such as herbal products used by cancer patients.

Nutrition and Cancer

Nutrition plays a critical role in both the prevention and recovery of cancer as well as in the management of treatment related side effects. There’s a lot of conflicting information about what an optimal anti-cancer diet is. Dionne Detraz, RDN, CSO is an Integrative Dietitian Nutritionist with a Specialty in Oncology Nutrition. She has worked for both Kaiser Permanente and UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and is the founder of The Rustic Dietitian, Inc. However, our admin team has teamed up with Dignity Health’s Cancer Liaison and her team to provide free wig fittings and wigs for our community cancer patients.
